Best Before Date Disclaimer (06/26)
Please note: this product is marked Best Before 06/26 (June 2026).
A Best Before date is not the same thing as an expiration date. An expiration date means the product may no longer be safe or effective after that date and should not be used. A Best Before date, on the other hand, refers to the period when the manufacturer guarantees the product will be at its peak freshness, quality, and performance. After this date, the product is typically still usable, but the quality (such as vitamin strength, colour, or overall potency) may gradually decline over time.
In most cases, fish food and similar dry aquatic products can still remain usable for approximately 2–3 years past the Best Before date, especially when it has been properly cold stored, as this greatly helps preserve freshness and slows down nutrient breakdown.
For retail stores purchasing in bulk, this product may be best suited for clearance sales or for use in a store fish room. For individual customers, it can be an excellent opportunity to stock up and feed their fish at a significantly reduced cost.
By purchasing this product, the buyer acknowledges that it is being sold as a Best Before dated item and understands the difference between Best Before and expiration dating.
Please note: In some cases, the Best Before date may have been removed from the packaging. This is something we occasionally do with these types of products prior to donating them to the local aquarium society.
Chips that keep their shape for rasping Ancistrus and plecos
sera Catfish Chips Nature is the staple food without dyes and preservatives for rasping and suckermouth bottom fish such as Ancistrus and plecos.
The balanced composition with a high amount of fibers (from willow bark fibers and alder cones, among others) as well as natural spirulina supports healthy digestion and development.
The quickly sinking chips become smooth in water, keep their shape for at least 24 hours, and do not pollute the water. They therefore allow the mainly nocturnal catfish eating slowly without any problems, which meets their natural feeding habits.
Natural ornamental fish diet
This product belongs to the "sera Nature" product range, which does not require any dyes nor preservatives. A varied diet with ingredients close to nature is the best protection against deficiencies, and supports the health and liveliness of the fish. The Nature food types therefore contain natural ingredients such as Spirulina, Krill or sustainable insect meal from soldier fly larvae (Hermetia). The signets on the front side of the package highlight these ingredients and their amounts in the food.
