The Wild Biome is a division of Distrabex Wholesale Inc., originally founded as a wholesale distributor bringing premium brands such as 2HR Aquarist, Sera, GlasGarten, and SaltyShrimp to retailers across Canada. As the years have gone by, the vision has grown.

Today, The Wild Biome is evolving into a specialty online retailer focused on reptile & aquarium supplies with a curated selection of live reptiles. While wholesale continues behind the scenes, our primary focus is now building a strong retail presence and serving hobbyists directly.

We currently operate exclusively online and do not have a physical storefront. Many of our products are shipped directly from trusted suppliers, allowing us to offer a wide range of high-quality brands without compromising freshness or availability. In addition to in-stock items, we also offer special orders. Some products may require a waiting period, particularly harder-to-find items, but we strive to be transparent about timelines and communication every step of the way.

If you are searching for something you don’t see listed, feel free to reach out. We may be able to source it for you, and if we can’t, we will gladly point you in the right direction. The long-term goal is to establish a presence at reptile and aquarium expos, and eventually open a full specialty retail location in London, Ontario. These are ambitious plans, and every order helps move us one step closer. Thank you for supporting a growing Canadian specialty business. We truly appreciate it.

If you ever have questions, even if they are not directly related to something we sell, we are always happy to help.

About The Owner

My name is Jonathan Reid, and I have been involved in the specialty pet industry for over 12 years.

Some of you may recognize me from my time managing Pet Paradise in London for nearly a decade, from various trade shows across Canada, or more recently from helping manage Tails and Scales before returning home to London.

Animals have fascinated me for as long as I can remember. I was fortunate growing up to travel and experience wildlife in different parts of the world, which only deepened that interest. After moving to London at 18, I immersed myself in the aquarium hobby, quickly followed by reptiles. What began as a hobby quickly turned into a career.

Over the years I have kept a wide range of species and bred approximately 30 to 40 species of reptiles, primarily geckos and colubrids, along with numerous species of fish. My main focus in aquatics has been rainbowfish, ricefish, Corydoras, and plecos, though I have worked with many others. I also have experience with birds, small mammals, cats, and dogs, both professionally and personally.

Relocating forced me to scale back significantly, but this new chapter is an opportunity to slowly rebuild and refocus on the species that first inspired me. The Wild Biome is not just a business venture — it is a continuation of a lifelong passion.

If you have made it this far, thank you. I genuinely appreciate your support and interest. If you ever have questions about animal care, products, or the hobby in general, I am always just a message away
