Description
Overview
Seachem Reef Phytoplankton™ is a concentrated blend of green and brown marine phytoplankton designed to provide essential fatty acids, proteins, vitamins, amino acids, and biological carotenoids for invertebrate diets. The particle size ranges from 1–20 μm, making it suitable for a broad range of tropical marine aquarium filter feeders and invertebrates.
Reef Phytoplankton™ contains a natural source of carotenoids, offering essential proteins and a more bioavailable source of pigmentation compared to other natural or synthetic pigments. Carotenoids also provide antioxidant benefits. The formula is enhanced to increase the bioavailability of proteins, lipids, B vitamins, and other organic nutrients, reducing the energy required by organisms to gain nutritional benefit.
Blending multiple phytoplankton species yields better nutritional value; studies show increased consumption by filter feeders when using mixed cultures versus single-species cultures (Villa, B. Rico, Le Coz, J. R., Mingant, C., and Robert, R., 2006. Aquaculture, 256, 377–388).
Key Features

- Particle size: 1–20 μm
- Enhanced for bioavailability of nutrients
- Supports filter feeder and invertebrate nutrition
- Provides essential fatty acids, proteins, vitamins, amino acids, and carotenoids
Sizes
