Overview
Seachem MatrixCarbon™ is a high-efficiency spherical activated carbon designed for superior chemical filtration in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums. Its spherical shape provides optimum hydrodynamics, preventing packing and allowing maximum water flow through its high density of macroporous binding sites.
MatrixCarbon™ has very low ash content, resulting in minimal impact on pH, and features the lowest leachable phosphate levels of any major carbon brand. It removes organic contaminants more effectively than other high-grade carbons, with superior adsorption capacity, rate, and longevity.
Unlike many carbons, MatrixCarbon™ is bituminous coal-based, macroporous, and spherical, allowing full penetration by water while remaining safely contained in filter media.

Directions / Usage
- Rinse before use.
- Place in a filter bag to prevent escape of granules.
- 250 mL treats approximately 400 L (100 US gallons) for several months.
- For best results, position MatrixCarbon™ to maximize water flow through it.
- Suitable for canister filters, chemical filtration modules, box filters, or high-flow areas of trickle filters.
