Description
Overview
Flourish Nitrogen™ is a nitrogen supplement for the planted aquarium, providing a concentrated (15,000 mg/L) blend of nitrogen sources. It delivers nitrogen in both the plant-preferred ammonium form and the nitrate form, without releasing free ammonia. Ammonium becomes available after conversion of urea, while nitrate is immediately utilizable by plants. Flourish Nitrogen™ is ideal for addressing nitrogen deficiencies in freshwater planted systems and is safe for invertebrates such as shrimp. For best results, use in conjunction with Flourish Phosphorus™ and Flourish Potassium™.
Key Features
- Nitrogen supplement for planted aquaria
- 15,000 mg/L blend of ammonium and nitrate forms
- No free ammonia released
- Safe for shrimp and invertebrates
- Supports plant growth in NPK fertilization programs
- Available in sizes: 100 mL, 250 mL, 500 mL, 2 L, 4 L
Directions
Beginner:
- Use 2.5 mL (½ cap) per 160 L (40 US gallons) twice a week, or as needed in response to signs of nitrogen deficiency (e.g., stunted growth, chlorosis).
- Each cap thread ≈ 1 mL for smaller dosing.
Expert:
- Beginner dose raises nitrogen equivalent to ~1 mg/L nitrate. Provides ~4 g dry or 20 g hydrated plant growth per month (assuming other nutrients are sufficient).
- For increased growth, dose proportionately more.
- To target a specific nitrogen increase: use formula 0.25vn = m, where v = tank volume in gallons, n = desired nitrogen increase (mg/L; use factor 0.05 if nitrate equivalent), m = product volume in mL.
- Example: to raise 20 gallons by 0.20 mg/L nitrogen: 0.25200.20 = 1 mL.
Note: Because ½ of the nitrogen is nitrate, doubling a nitrate reading provides an estimate of total nitrogen added.
